Update as of December 17, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. CST

We want to provide an update on COVID-19 in our Querencia community. We learned on Wednesday, December 16th, that two of our team members tested positive for the virus. These are our only team member active cases of the virus and both are self-isolating at home with the support of our Human Resources team.

We also learned today, Thursday, December 17th, that one of our memory care residents tested positive for the virus. By way of recap, we have ten total resident cases of the virus and all are self-isolating in our memory care program.

As a reminder, the most important thing to ensure your safety is to wear an appropriate mask or face covering that covers your mouth and nose, including when team members are providing care or service for you. Team members providing direct and prolonged care and services to residents in their home or the health center wear special surgical and N95 or KN95 masks and face shields. Washing your hands frequently and practicing social distancing are also vital to preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We continue to screen all team members and essential visitors who enter our community. Please do not visit or come to work if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, if you live with someone who is ill, or you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. We have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases following the Thanksgiving holiday, and it is important to continue protecting yourselves and others from the virus.

Cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in Texas. In response, Lifespace and Querencia continue to follow heightened infection control guidelines. We highly encourage residents to only leave the community for essential needs like groceries or critical medical appointments. We will continue to screen and limit visitors to our community to protect our residents and team members. Until further notice, no visitation will be allowed in our memory care program.

Please know we continue in our commitment to protect the health and safety of our residents and team members. As we have done throughout the last several weeks, we will regularly communicate updates about our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community.

We appreciate your support and continued adherence to the protocols we have implemented to protect our residents and team members. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Querencia management team.

Thank you
