Nate Weyand
Executive Director

Nate comes to Querencia from The Cliffs Communities in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where he was a director for one of the largest master-planned developments and country clubs in the U.S. He was previously an administrator at Westchester Gardens Rehabilitation and Care Center, a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Palm Harbor, Fl. He bagan his career with Life Care Centers of America in Cleveland, TN, where he served as Nursing Home Adminstrator at Darcy Hall of Life Care, a 220-bed Skilled Nursing Facility in West Palm Beach, Fl. Nate studied for his MBA at North Greenville University and received his B.S. in health care administration from Carson-Newman University.

Tim Stuteville
Associate Executive Director

Tim joins us from The Wesleyan at Scenic in Georgetown Texas, where he served as Administrator for the Skilled Nursing Facility. He previously held that position at skilled nursing centers in Belton, Kingsland and Bertram, Texas. Tim is on the Board of Directors of Leading Age Texas, the independent association of not-for-profit senior living communities, which named him its 2012 Administrator of the Year. Tim holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a Bachelor of Science in Health Professions from Texas State University, where he also received his designation as a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator.

Tiffany Tello
Healthcare Administrator

Tiffany joins Querencia after serving almost 21 years at C.C. Young, a not for profit Methodist affiliated Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Dallas. She started her career as an Activity Director and held several positions including Assisted Living Administrator, Director of Risk Management/Human Resources, and Healthcare Administrator. During her tenure at C.C. Young, Tiffany enjoyed working with many levels of care including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, Nursing Care, Adult Day Care, Home Health and Hospice. In addition to her duties as Healthcare Administrator, she was responsible for leading the design and construction of C.C. Young's master plan, which included a new state of the art Healthcare facility. Tiffany received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas State University and her Master of Arts degree in Long Term Care Administration from the University of North Texas. She received her Nursing Facility Administrator License (LNFA) in 2008.

Joan Ford
Director of Sales and Marketing

Joan joined Querencia as part of the original marketing team in 2004 as the Marketing Coordinator and Office Manager. She spent three years working with the marketing team hosting informative events and promoting the community. When Querencia opened in 2007, she accepted the Senior Living Sales Counselor position for Assisted Living & Memory Support in the Plaza.  Her next move was to Independent Living as the Senior Living Sales Counselor for seven years.  She accepted her current role as Director of Sales in 2015. Previously, Joan handled marketing and outside sales for the 38th St. Pharmacy where she was also a certified pharmacy technician. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin.

Phillip Taylor
Senior Living Sales Counselor

Phillip comes to Querencia from Ft Worth, TX, where his role was Area Director for Marathon Medical, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business distributor of medical devices and supplies to VA Medical Centers.  He has 25 plus years in the medical sales field, 13 of which Phillip worked for manufacturers of adult disposable hygienic products allowing him the opportunity to work with seniors, their families, and clinicians in long term care and skilled nursing communities.  He has a passion for volunteer work where he participated at the Dallas County Juvenile Department and Serendipity Equine Haven before moving to Austin in 2015.  Phillip has a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University at College Station.

Jill Conant
Marketing/Move-in Coordinator

Jill’s passion for helping others, coupled with her marketing background, make her an excellent fit for our Marketing/Move-in coordinator position. A native Austinite, she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin. Jill held marketing management positions for both CompuAdd and Dell Computer Corporation and served as a leader for numerous volunteer and philanthropic projects over the past 20 years. When you are ready to make the move to Querencia, Jill will be here to help you manage all the details and ensure your transition is a positive experience.

Dorothy Scarborough
Plaza Health Services Sales Counselor

Dorothy joins Querencia from Brookdale Spicewood Springs, where she was the Sales & Marketing Director for assisted living, skilled nursing & rehabilitation. She brings 18 years of sales and marketing experience to her position. Dorothy began a sales career in Austin in 2000 as a real estate professional. She transitioned toward the healthcare business in 2007, taking the position of Admissions Coordinator for the Summit at Lakeway, in the skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. From there she went to Longhorn Village as the Sales Counselor & Admissions Coordinator for the Health Center. Dorothy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southwest Texas State University and taught children and young adults of Texas for 15 years.

Marcia Lang
Admissions Coordinator

Marcia comes to Querencia from The Summit at Lakeway, where she was Admissions Coordinator.  She brings a wide range of business and health care experience to her position. Marcia has served as a medical billing specialist at IDTC, a facility for mentally disabled children in Indianapolis, Indiana; as office manager at the Voita Citrus brokerage firm in Noblesville, Indiana; as office manager at Beverly Enterprises, a nursing home and rehab center in Indianapolis; and as office manager at the Village Christian Park nursing home.

Marcella Briseno
Assisted Living Manager

Marcella joined The Plaza at Querencia with more than 16 years’ experience in nursing, including more than ten years’ experience in the long-term care industry. Her extensive nursing background includes family practice, internal medicine, geriatrics, utilization review, hospital and rehab. Marcella received her LVN license from Austin Community College and also attended CBM Education Center.

Barbara Jones
Director of Nursing

Barbara recently moved to Austin, TX from Chicago, IL to join the Querencia team. She previously worked at Mercy Circle Retirement Community primarily for the religious community, and Barbara's efforts and committments there were instrumental for the community's 5 Star CMS rating and deficiency-free surveys. Barbara graduated from the Capital Area School of Practical Nursing in Springfield, IL and became a Licensed Practical nurse in 1979. She received an Associate Nursing degree from Illinois Central College in 1998;a Bachelor's Nursing degree for the University of Phoenix in 2008, and a Master's Nursing degree, specializing in health education in 2009. Barbara is also a certified Resident Assessment Coordinator.

Lauren Struby
Resident Care Manager

Lauren comes to Querencia with a wealth of experience including sales & marketing with Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital in Austin, and their parent company, Kindred Hospital, in Dallas. She also served as Marketing Director for a 300-bed community in Dallas that included Assisted Living, Memory Support and Nursing.  Lauren has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Baylor University and has completed all coursework in Long Term Care Administration. 

Christy Holladay
Business Office Coordinator

Christy joined Querencia in March 2017 and brings extensive knowledge in business office management. She worked for 12 years in Healthcare Administration for the private medical sector, which makes her an invaluable resource to our community. Her past experience includes 5 years as a Practice Administrator in pediatrics and 7 years as a Clinical Coordinator for a spine surgeon, where she implemented efficient, patient-centered successful strategies for both practices. Christy graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Psychology. We are fortunate to have her organizational, financial, and professional experience here at Querencia.

Erin D'Arcy
Resident Services Manager

Erin joined Querencia in 2014 and has served in various roles, most recently as Lifestyles Coordinator. Erin's strong leadership and organizational management style compliment her dedication to excellence, which is evident in her committment to continually improve the delivery of services for everyone in our community. The ability to make a difference in the day-to-day lives of Querencia's residents is Erin's favorite part of her role. A graduate from Coastal Carolina University, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Sports and Recreation Management, Erin's past experience includes hospitality and customer service.

Dr. Liam Fry
MD, FACP, CMD, Medical Director

Dr. Liam Fry attended the University of Texas at Austin for undergraduate school and received a BA in the Plan II Honors Program. After college she attended Oxford University in England before starting medical school in Dallas. She graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2002, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. After finishing residency, she completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu, HI. She is board certified in Internal medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Pallative Medicine. She also teaches geriatrics to the internal medicine and family practice residencies in Austin and is the current chairman of the geriatric committee of the Travis County Medical Society. She is married and has 3 wonderful children and enjoys playing tennis and helping coach her son's soccer team in her spare time.

Ashley Brorby
Director of Social Services

Ashley joined Querencia in 2010 as Director of Social Services and is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She has worked in the fields of mental health, community health and healthcare for over 25 years, and has served in numerous settings including hospice and long-term care, women’s health, non-profit program management, community mental health, and public health education and research.  She holds Master of Education degrees in Counseling from Southwest Texas State University and in Health Education and Promotion from UT Austin.

Marci Protsman
Director of Human Resources

Marci brings extensive experience in hiring, training, coaching, accounting operations and office management to Querencia. Before joining us in 2010, she was human resources manager for the Austin Marriott South. Her career includes experience at Holiday Inn Northwest as front office manager, Fairfield Inn by Marriott as operations manager, and Residence Inn by Marriott as front desk supervisor, all through White Lodging Services. Marci earned her BA in Applied Arts and Sciences from Texas State University.

Nelda Rivas
Director of Housekeeping Services

Nelda’s specialty is grand openings; she has served as the director of housekeeping services at Querencia since our debut in 2007. She is responsible for keeping all our homes and common areas clean and inviting, as well as all community and personal laundry services. With more than 20 years of experience working in upscale hotels and guest services, she has earned high guest and resident satisfaction results for her superb work. Intercontinental Hotel awarded Nelda its national “Best of the Best” award for superior leadership and work performance. Nelda Rivas was awarded the 2011 Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (TASHA) Environmental Service Award. Nelda was selected among literally hundreds of nominees throughout Texas that fill the role of Director for Environmental Services.

Nadia Sharp
Lifestyles Director

Nadia joined Querencia in 2007 as Lifestyles Coordinator and has served as our Director of Lifestyles since 2012. In 2011, she co-chaired our Memory Walk committee and raised a record-setting amount of donations. Nadia is a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana with a major in communications, emphasizing public relations. She previously worked for Landes Bio-science in Austin as managing editor of its scientific journals. She has been director of communications at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church and a public relations representative at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Indiana. Her background includes a creative services internship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Fran Werner
Masterpiece Living/Wellness Manager

Fran Werner is Querencia's wellness and fitness program manager, bringing with her more than 40 years of solid, progressive experience in the development, implementation, and promotion of wellness initiatives designed to improve the health and well being of individuals across all phases of life. A popular TV and radio guest, Fran has authored two books and many articles on healthy living. She is certified as an exercise physiologist, health coach, master personal trainer, senior fitness instructor, yoga instructor, water fitness instructor, and cancer exercise specialist. She holds a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, and a MA in Behavioral Sciences from University of Chicago. Fran has worked at Querencia for the past 9 years and plays a key role of enriching the lives of everyone in our community on a daily basis.
